The natural blue-green monoclinic crystal of Copper Acetate monohydrate [Cu(CH 3 COO) 2 ·H 2 O] tends to grow.
material
Copper acetate monohydrate
Hot water
Acetic acid or vinegar (if necessary)
program
20 g of copper acetate monohydrate was dissolved in 200 ml of hot water. If you don't have a weight scale, don't despair. Copper acetate is dissolved in warm water to form a saturated solution. When the powder is no longer dissolved in the liquid, you will know that enough powder has been added.
If you see scum, add a few drops of acetic acid (vinegar).
Place the container in an undisturbed position to allow the crystal to grow.
Blue-green crystals should start appearing within a few days. You can allow them to grow by themselves, or you can choose a perfect crystal to use as a seed crystal to grow larger crystals.
If you want to grow a single crystal, place the seed crystal in a new container and then add the copper acetate solution from the old container.
When you are satisfied with the crystal, remove it and put it on a paper towel to dry.
