Kage vs. Omikage: Deciphering the Honorific Layers of Light

Hi everyone,

I am currently investigating the semantic depth of the word "kage" and how it functions beyond a simple optical phenomenon.

I am particularly curious about the term shadow in Japanese when it is elevated to "omikage" in a spiritual or imperial context. How does the addition of honorific prefixes change the perception of a shadow from a mere dark patch to a sacred representation of a deity or a high-ranking personage?

I would appreciate any linguistic insights into how these honorific layers influence modern literature or formal religious ceremonies where presence is more important than the physical form.

Thanks in advance.
