This Friday will be an exciting Friday for fans of the Ontario horse racing industry as Raceway of Western Fair District hosts a grand entertainment-promising final. The track will witness an autumn series final in Ontario, where 2-year-old and 3-year-old pacing colts and gelding battle for a big Canadian $25,600 prize.
Everything is preparing for a very interesting final as the top eight winners from the previous two games, Oct. 15 and Oct. 22, will face off for the highest prize of $25,600 Canadian dollars. The final is below number 6 on the 11-day race card at the racing facility. Fans of Live Harness Sports can also enjoy the event line on the Western Fair website.
Friday's final has a number of strong candidates for face colt and gelding from Ontario, aged two and three. Shadowplay rookie unrace is considered one of trainer Blair Burgess' favorites. The horse started with a single leg and was able to reach the final the following week, achieving his career-high one-fifth of a second.
The horse will face fierce competition from the Spacy P and Hippie Zone, who have won their respective open-round divisions and then passed the second leg of the series. Training by Greg Mcnair, hippie zone moved to provincial after achieving five wins at Inverness Raceway. The three-year-old gelding started twice at woodbine Mohawk Park and finished second in the "no win" event for the second time.
Hippizon made an impressive fall series debut by winning several distances, breaking his career-high of 1:56.4 seconds. And in Friday's final, O'Brien-winning Doug McNair will be seated. The horse was attracted to the disadvantaged outside post 7, but the driver believes in the horse's ability and expects to do pretty well.
The CA$25,6000 Autumn Series Final for Face Colt and Gelding in Ontario, ages 2 and 3, is 6th or lower in 11 race cards at West Fair District Raceway on Friday. The race is scheduled to start around 6:46 p.m. Eastern time, and the first race will start at 4:50 p.m. Fans can also enjoy the final on the live stream provided on the race's official track website.
Like many other businesses in Canada, the horse racing industry and the Western Fair District Raceway have been severely affected by unprecedented conditions. After the 2020 virus outbreak, the track had to be shut down for months. In October 2020, the disinfection process allowed race days to be dispersed throughout the week, allowing the race to resume.
After the resumption of race operations in October 2020, the track had to be closed again, like other Ontario states. In April 2021, all tracks stopped working, making it more difficult for tracks to recover from the virus. After the race was cancelled, Ontario Racing temporarily paid CA$300 to horses and horsemen who were scheduled to participate on April 3 and 4 on the provincial track, including Western Fair District.
