Spanish national soccer team captain Alvaro Morata announced his divorce as soon as he moved to AC Milan. He has undergone major changes not only in his soccer career but also in his personal life.
Morata announced her divorce from her wife, Alice Campello, on Instagram on Wednesday. "After a lot of consideration, Alice and I decided to go our separate ways. We want to remain a wonderful mutual respect that loved each other and helped each other a lot," Morata said. “We had a great time, and our four children were undoubtedly the best we ever did. The decision to divorce is a painful one that requires respect and empathy.”
Morata and her model-turned-wife, Alice Campello, have been considered "celebrity parakeets." Alvaro contacted social media through direct message and got married eight months later in 2017. During their seven-year marriage, they had four children and showed off their love life.
Morata announced his separation shortly after moving to Italy's prestigious AC Milan, Alice's homeland, without revealing a clear reason for the divorce.
Morata, who started soccer for the Spanish Atletico Madrid youth team, has played for the best prestigious club in Europe. After playing for Real Madrid and Juventus, he changed to Chelsea in 2017 after wearing the Real uniform again. Returning to Atletico in 2019 through a loan, he wore the Juventus uniform on loan again in the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons.
Morata, who returned to Atletico in the 2022-23 season, scored 21 goals and had four assists in 48 games last season. However, he chose to go to Milan after losing ground to the starting lineup due to poor performance in the second half of the season.
Morata is a 190-centimeter-tall striker with sharp movements and headers that beat the opponent's defense. However, he has been evaluated as not very good at determining.
"My top priority is to win. My goal is not to score 50 or 60 goals. Some players fail to win the championship trophy even after scoring hundreds of goals," he said at a press conference after joining AC Milan on Sunday.
Morata won the title in every team he played for. On top of that, he continued his reputation as a "winner maker" by lifting the Euro 2024 trophy as the captain of the Spanish team last month.
