Apple Store and iTunes Gift Cards Merge

Today, Apple launched redesigned gift cards in the United States.  苹果礼品卡充值Beyond just a visual redesign, the new cards combine the previous Apple Store gift cards, which were used for product purchases, and the iTunes & App Store gift cards, which were used for digital content purchases on the iTunes and App Store. This move helps to reduce confusion between different gift cards and their uses.

The new gift cards have been redesigned from packaging to graphics. They even come with collectible stickers, some of which are available exclusively through Apple retail stores. Apple had previously renamed iTunes gift cards to iTunes & App Store gift cards to clarify that they could be used for any digital content, including apps. Some people had tried to use iTunes gift cards to pay for products in stores, which was not possible as they were only redeemable for digital content. The new gift card, which can be used for both product purchases and any digital content, simplifies the buying process.

So, what happens to existing cards and balances? First, your Apple ID balance (the balance of any iTunes gift cards you redeemed) has been renamed to Apple Account balance. This balance can be used to purchase any product, content, or service. Physical Apple Store gift cards can still be used as normal but only for products. Only the new gift cards can be used universally for products and digital content.

Apple also wants to take the opportunity to educate customers about gift card scams. Recently, scammers have been making fake calls, posing as the IRS, police, Apple Support, or even a relative, and demanding payment via Apple gift cards. Apple reminds customers never to share the redemption code on their gift card. None of these entities will ever ask for payment via a gift card, and any cold calls from these entities should be viewed with suspicion. For instance, Apple Support will never make unsolicited phone calls about your account.
