The first SiGMA Asia trade event and conference for the online gaming sector is expected to feature 15,000 delegates, 50% higher than figures cited by organisers just weeks ago.
It will be held from July 19 to July 22 at the SMX Convention Center (photo) in Pasai, Manila, Philippines.
"The future of the Asian gaming industry is poised for remarkable growth and innovation," Neil Shih, managing director of SiGMA Asia, told GGRAsia.
He added: "With a vast and diverse population, increased access to technology, and a thriving entrepreneurial spirit, the region will become a global gaming powerhouse."
Mr Shih said new technologies including virtual reality, augmented reality and cloud gaming "will provide an immersive experience and improved connectivity and reshape the gaming landscape."
The SiGMA Asia executive promised that the event would provide "quality content from the best major opinion leaders."
They include Alejandro Tengco, the head of the Philippine Entertainment Game Company (Pagcor), a Philippine gaming regulator. He will give a keynote speech for the opening of the SiGMA Asia Conference.
Kelvin Lee, a member of the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission and a member of the corporate watchdog, will also attend.
SiGMA Asia's showroom will include a 'Startup Village' where companies can present ideas and new projects. The show will feature B2B and B2C brands in online gaming, as well as a number of land-based gaming businesses.
Mr Shih of SiGMA Asia said the exhibition will have the effect of "bringing our network in the West closer to Asian suppliers, operators and affiliates."
This meeting is to hold an esports tournament during the event process.
SiGMA branded events are "also known for networking opportunities where events such as startup pitches help promising companies connect with investors," the executive said.
He also noted that interest in iGaming and emerging technologies in Asia has been "strong, especially in Southeast Asia," and Philippine capital Manila is "the center of entrepreneurial energy."
Mr Shih observed that the country's domestic gaming market was "getting a boost," which he suggested was linked to Pagcor's "preemptive leadership."
"Regulators' efforts to champion responsible gaming practices and support sustainable resumption of operations as they navigate the challenges of the pandemic have contributed to the growth of entrepreneurship at home and abroad," said SiGMA Asia president.
"While we are excited to host the first SiGMA Asia event in Manila, we are still open-minded to explore other countries."
