Many hotel properties in Macau's casino resorts have already sold all or most of the rooms available in the open market during most nights of the upcoming Golden Week in the fall. That is the result of GGRAsia checking each of the hotels' official reservation engines.
As of Thursday, standard rooms for two adults at 22 hotels related to the Macau casino complex were sold out for at least three nights during this year's eight-day festival.
Strong advance bookings, especially for the five-star class, could bode well for casino gross gaming revenue (GGR) during the festival, several industry experts have given GGRAsia a separate opinion.
This fall's Golden Week includes Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on Sept. 29 on the lunar calendar, and Chinese National Day, which falls on Oct. 1.
The 22 casino sector-related hotels sold out for standard accommodation include Grand Lisboa, a Macau Peninsula property promoted by SJM Holdings, and Palajo Versace Hotel within the company's Kotai Gaming Resort Grand Lisboa Palace, and MGM Macau and MGM Kotai's hotels promoted by MGM China Holdings Ltd.
Also publicly available are Wynn Macao and Wynn Cotai promoted by Wynn Maca Ltd, Hotel Towers Nüwa and Morpheus Hotel in City of Dreams Maca, and Epic Tower in Studio City, a Cotai gaming complex promoted by Melco Resorts and Entertainment Ltd.
Other hotels that do not have rooms available most nights are: Galaxy Hotel in the Galaxy Macao complex, Banyan Tree Macao, Hotel Okura Macao, Ritz-Carlton Macao, and JW Marriott Hotel Macao and the newly released Raffles in the Galaxy Macao, which is part of the complex's third phase. All of these hotels are promoted by the Galaxy Entertainment Group.
Standard accommodation has also been exhausted at The Venetic Macao, Parisian Macao, The Londoner Macao Hotel, Londoner Court, Conrad Macao and Four Seasons Hotel Macao Cotai Strip, promoted by Sands China Ltd.
During the upcoming golden week, the average nightly fare for a still-available two-person hotel room within the casino complex is mostly between MOP3,000 (roughly US$373) and MOP4,000 (over MOP4,000), and that doesn't include taxes and service costs. This is according to the rates cited through each of the hotel's booking engines as of Thursday. The most expensive rates apply during the period covered Sept. 30 through Oct. 3.
