An issue with one of FIFA 23's"Hero packs" has FIFA 23 Coins turned rather costly after a tradeable FIFA Ultimate Team Hero thing was added to the game's virtual transfer market at a significantly reduced price. It was a mess as players tried to sell off their assets since their value plunged, hoping to recover loss as the market inundated.
FUT Hero Items are very rare and therefore valuable. They are each associated with a person who made a an important contribution to their club or is a fan favorite due to any reason. The Hero item can fetch hundreds of millions FUT coins per piece on the virtual transfer market or by buying packs. There is a very slim possibility of getting one.
Then, when EA misjudgedly released a bundle that contained a tradeable Hero item for a low price of 250,000 FUT coins The market was hit with an influx of cheap Heroes leading to it to drop and wiping out the supposed value of the more rare items. Fans who owned rare Heroes began to sell them after seeing prices fall, which served to throw gasoline on the fire. It's understandable given that rarer Hero items can fetch hundreds of dollars in real-world value when sold on third-party platforms.
The mistake has been fixed and the pack was made available for a short period of time however the damage has been caused. EA has yet to comment regarding the issue, and although the market is beginning to recover, the damage appears to be irreversible and it is yet to be determined what the publisher will do to correct the issue.
