Adenovirus is a replication-defective adenoviral vector system that widely used for gene delivery in a variety of cell types. The vectors are predominantly nonenveloped, nonintegrating, episomal, double-stranded DNA viruses. With a strong safety record, adenoviruses and recombinant adenoviral vectors have been widely used for gene function studies and human gene therapy.
