According to info which I found in internet EBM, as we say, is an unconventional machining process that uses a high speed electron stream or beam that impinges on the workpiece and transfer all their kinetic energy to the work material producing intense heat causing swift melting and vaporization of the metal.

Good answer from Tillert. All is quite simple and clear. Talking about power, I can say that all it depends on purpose of using. If you are interested in electron beam welding I think you should read articles in internet. Also you can check examples for example from B.C. Instruments machining company.
