I will say it again and it's been mentioned a thousand times before, you never really stop Runescape, you merely take breaks. The appeal for the most part is nostalgia I presume, and the simplicity of everything. As somebody who doesn't engage at all in PvP and in PvM (mostly into skilling and questing) there really isn't a motive. Maxing out even one skill in OSRS is a huge grind, and there are a whole lot of skills easier to level than others. One of the best characteristics of RS3 and OSRS is that the quests, I have often heard it stated that no other MMO does seem like Runescape. And both variations of RuneScape have their worth.

While I do like how extreme the grind to level up is I feel as though it I get that feeling of accomplishment when I get there. I Wish there was more of a cover off for spending that time leveling abilities to their max. OSRS does not do the whole"attempt = benefit" aspect very nicely. This edition of Runescape is optimized for group vs solo play. A lot of aspects of RuneScape's group content is content and since most players prefer to play nowadays anyways it has gotten worse. RuneScape doesn't really feel cluttered, but it also feels like it doesn't have any obvious direction with its general content upgrades, a little bit of everything there and here. The community of OSRS will be supper toxic, which can eliminate lots of the fun of playing RuneScape, it causes you to wonder if you need to stick with it or not. No more micro-transactions except which that helps I think.

Has less of a grind for certain, but it also loses a sense of achievement for when you gain a level. This version also has a strong sense of development that is in-game and you never truly run out of things. It's RuneScape that was optimized around playing alone in the event that you want, but if you would like to join a group you are able to do that to. RS3 feels as though it has more direction than OSRS, but in addition, it feels more littered with makeup and material generally, I assume that is bound to occur with RuneScape almost 20 years old, but still. The community of cheap RuneScape gold is poisonous they continue to themselves. There are a whole lot of micro-transactions in RuneScape which can be a bit off putting and really adds to the mess.
