Aesop's Fables have been classic tales Hypnosis Bootcamp Review  for hundred's of years. How many of us remember sitting and watching Disney's cartoon version created in 1934. The Harvard Classics, printed from 1909-1914, put Aesop's fable this way: In a field one summer's day a Grasshopper was hopping about, chirping and singing to its heart's content. An Ant passed by; bearing along with great toil an ear of corn he was taking to the nest.

"Why not come and chat with me," said the Grasshopper, "instead of toiling and moiling in that way?" "I am helping to lay up food for the winter," said the Ant, "and recommend you to do the same." "Why bother about winter?" said the Grasshopper; "we have got plenty of food at present." But the Ant went on its way and continued its toil. When the winter came the Grasshopper had no food, and found itself dying of hunger, while it saw the ants distributing every day corn and grain from the stores they had collected in the summer. Then the Grasshopper knew: "IT IS BEST TO PREPARE FOR THE DAYS OF NECESSITY."

This simple little story carries with it a lot of wisdom. The idea of thrift being the foundation of a community is a good one. We have lost that attribute over the years and have replaced it with the negative attribute of consumerism that the grasshopper practiced acting like there would be no tomorrow. Aesop wrote simple stories for simpler times. I think the fable needs to be updated to fit with where our society is now. I offer the following: The Ant works very hard all summer long putting up his stores. He has gotten TIF money and government subsidies to build a very lucrative and large corporation. His Board of Directors has given him a very high salary and stock benefits package and while he paid his workers (the grasshoppers) the least he could get away with. His fellow businessmen and Board members grew fat on the profits the Ant's company generated.
