The Coldwater City Council approved a request from Acting Public Safety Director Joe Scheid Monday night for the purchase of a new upgraded electronic door access system at the Coldwater Public Safety Building.door lock system using bluetooth
Scheid said the building was built in the 1970’s and still has most of the original door locking mechanisms installed. While the current locking mechanisms have worked well, Scheid said they have been encountering several problems.
Those problems include the expense for repairing or replacing old push button style locks and maintaining the integrity of keys for Public Safety Building.
The Council approved a quote of just under $40,000 to purchase the Continental Access control electronic door access system from Larry’s Lock & Safe of Angola, Indiana. The funds are in the current fiscal year budget. The quote would provide electronic access control to 16 doors in the public safety building.
Larry’s Lock and Safe is the local distributor of Continental Access control products which are already being used in other city buildings.
