How Do Solar Lights Work?

I have already done all the easy things, so Backpack Electricity System now is the time to investigate alternatives. About twenty years ago I had a house with a solar hot water service, it worked well and very cost effective. Having been around for so long it is well proven technology, but when I looked at the possibility of getting one installed in my current house the cost was prohibitive.

Another approach would be to use that same source of power by collecting it in solar panels mounted on the roof and then store it, but again the cost of the panels and the batteries for storage was also fairly expensive. However, another approach is to use wind turbines, which are just modern windmills, and instead of pumping water are designed to generate electricity.

This technology has also been around for a long time and utilised in huge wind farms to provide energy to the commercial electricity grid. This technology has only recently been downsized to provide domestic sized turbines. A few years ago I investigated this option and found that although the wind was free the cost of the turbines made it unworkable, because I just couldn't afford the initial investment.'
