Sage Drive. Single User mode only.
- Sage Drive for Sage 50 Canadian Edition can only be used in single user mode at this time
- This article showcases an example of how Sage Drive can be implemented alongside a multi-user local network environment
- Multi-user setup can be referred to in Diagram A.
- Diagram B refers to Sage Drive access only.
- The orange lines represent an internet connection while the blue represents an internal network connection
- Sage Drive can only be used in single user mode at this time over the internet connection. However, you can set up a multi-user mode in the office on site environment with a local network. It can be set up with a router either with a wired or wireless (WiFi) connection.
- The internal network connection does not use an internet connection in order for computers 1, 2, and 3 to communicate
- Sage Drive is ideal for use when you are away from the "Office" to be able to use the data at "Home" without needing to manually restore a backup.
- The idea behind Sage Drive is that when you are away from the primary data location, you just simply open the file on "Computer 4 - Home", work on the file and then close it. The changes will eventually be synced back to the primary data location "Computer 1 - Office" via the internet. No need to go through a backup and restore procedure.
- "Computer 1" could also be a server
- Computer 4 - Home can also be an accountant that has the Sage 50 Canadian Accountants Edition
- Multi-user mode can only be used if the file format is in Sage 50 - Canadian Edition Premium or Quantum
- Sage 50 Pro is not a multi-user mode product, however, if you purchased the Sage 50c Pro Sage Drive / Sage One package, you are able to install the Sage 50 Pro on two computers with the same serial number and registration information. Sage 50 Pro with the same registration information cannot be opened or in use on two computers at the same time (Computer 4 and Computer 1). This is not a problem because the Sage Drive service only permits one user usage anyway. You will need to close Sage 50 on one computer if you get an error message.
