In a comment to GGRAsia, Maulin Gandhi, founder and president of Tangam Systems, says casino "smart tables" are "not very smart until you decide what to do with your data." His company specializes in "prescription analysis" of the company-defined casino gaming industry.
The company's tasks include "recommendation-based analysis." That's "where we come in as a company. We are a layer of intelligence on top of all the smart table data… And then how do we actually use this data to generate revenue for businesses and do something useful and valuable with it?" he added
Mr Gandhi said, "It's not more data or charts that operators are actually after. What they want is the answer. What do we do right now and what decisions do we have to make based on data to improve performance?"
He added: "One of the company's early investors 15 years ago said one thing that is still resonating today. [Casino] operators don't want to learn to fish for [INSIGHT]. They just want fish."
What "fish" casino operators are looking for could include whether to increase the table betting limit, whether demand exceeds the current "table open" time, whether to allocate more dealers, and optimal table game mix at the bottom.
"It ultimately depends on what decisions we have to make to make to make sure that table opening times, prices and game mix are aligned with demand, that is, current, real-time [demand] and past demand," Mr Gandhi said.
He was speaking to GGRASIA on the sidelines of the recent Global Gaming Expo (G2E) Asian Casino Industry Trade Fair and Conference in Macau.
The data scientist said the analysis process could "improve the quality of the recommendations that come out" as the casino industry generates "better quality data."
Tangam Systems, president, said that until recently, the industry standard way to process data was to enter it manually. Software-based analytics is still very useful through these paths.
"But the better the accuracy of the data, the more likely the recommendations made through the analysis are," he noted.
