Hyundai Mobis coach Cho Dong-hyun said, "We have to find a combination."
Ulsan Hyundai Mobis left for off-season training in the Philippines on Wednesday. Excluding departure and arrival days, the team will take a day off (15 days) and hold five consecutive practice games for two consecutive days.
"We played five to six practice games (in Korea). During the summer training, the pressure on defense is a little better than last year's. We take two guards and one guard and two forwards at practice games, and we need to refine our teamwork and find different combinations," Hyundai Mobis coach Cho Dong-hyun said by phone on Wednesday. "We plan to focus on training games, including game sense and physical stamina."
Hyundai Mobis has already played practice games against Philippine universities such as UP and NU, using Lee Woo-suk and Lee Seung-woo together.
Coach Cho Dong-hyun said, "Kim Joon-il is so good at physical activity. Kim Kook-chan and Han Ho-bin are good, too. Park Moo-bin is better than last year," adding, "I have a lot of worries because all 16 players (in the Philippines) are trying their best. We have to give them a chance and find a combination. That's why we decided to play a lot of games on purpose."
The advantage of Hyundai Mobis is that it has a large number of available players. If they are used evenly in practice games, they will have less time to play. Manager Cho Dong-hyun plans to let some players play for more than 30 minutes and focus on the remaining players on training. Instead, the team will use the other way in the next game.
"I'm going to let him play for 30 minutes here as well," Cho said. "When it comes to offense, they will practice early offensives and off-the-ball, and they will pay the most attention to the defense pressure they've practiced so far. I'm also going to pay attention to the combination of players. I'm going to check the training I've done so far, the defense I'm going to take this season, and the direction of offense I'm going to take this season, and give individual players a chance."
Hyundai Mobis will return from the Philippines on the 24th and leave for Japan with foreign players in early September.
