Assuming you’re printer has a scanner attached to it, your next task is to make sure that it can connect to your computer. You’ve got 3 options:

1 Use the free software that comes with your operating system. For Windows, this means Windows Fax and Scan. For macOS, this means Image Capture.
If these are able to connect to your scanner, and you’re happy with the basic scanning tasks, then you’re all set.
2 Use the software that your scanner vendor provides. This usually involves searching google for the name of the scanner and adding the word “Scanner Driver.”
This will usually bring up a page from the scanner vendor that will either prompt you to download and install their software or tell you that it is no longer supported.
3 Use a tool like VueScan. If you can’t get your scanner working by using either of the other two methods, or you want to use more advanced features, try out our software VueScan.
VueScan works with scanners that aren’t supported by their vendors anymore by independently reverse engineering the old driver.
