The first matches of Group B, arguably the biggest group of death at Euro 2024, are set to kick off. First up, Spain and Croatia face off.
Spain and Croatia will meet at the Olympiastadion Berlin in Berlin, Germany, on Saturday at 1:00 a.m. ET in their Euro 2024 Group B opener.
Spain will start with Simone, Cucurella, Nacho, Lerner, Carvajal, Rodri, Pedri, Luis, Williams, Morata, and Yamal.
Croatia will start with Ribakovic, Stanisic, Pogracic, Gvardiol, Stalo, Mayer, Kovacic, Kramaric, Modric, Brozovic and Budimir.
It's a literal group of death. Group B pairs Spain and Croatia with Italy and Albania. With the exception of Albania, all three countries could be considered favorites to win the tournament at any point. Add to that the fact that Spain is ranked 8th in the FIFA rankings, Italy is 9th, and Croatia is 10th, and you've got a very competitive group.
Spain has been on a roll lately. In their two friendlies before the tournament started, they defeated Andorra and Northern Ireland 5-0 and 5-1, respectively. Fast-forward to their last 10 games, and they're on top form, with eight wins, one draw, and one 토토 loss.
They're also at full strength. Spain has built a solid squad under Luis De La Fuente, with a generational mix of old and new, including Manchester City midfield stalwart Rodrigo, up front with Alvaro Morata and newcomer Ramin Yamal.
Croatia is also on the rise. They won two straight friendlies in June, including a 2-1 victory over Portugal, one of the favorites to win the tournament. In their last 10 games, they've also been in good form, winning seven, drawing one and losing two.
Croatia is also a formidable force. Led by last-dance favorite Luka Modric, they still have plenty of quality players, including Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol.
In terms of their recent head-to-head record, Spain has the edge. Spain has won six, drawn one and lost three of their 10 meetings with Croatia.
