Iowa has become the latest state for lawmakers to approve and legalize sports betting operations. The bill was discussed and approved in the Senate last week and in the House on Monday, requiring only the governor's signature to go into effect.

The Senate last week debated and approved the bill 31 to 18. The Senate already empowers the Iowa Racing Games Commission, which regulates state casinos, to set rules for betting on professional, college and international sports events. But some events, such as minor league and college team players in the state, are excluded.

The bill also legalizes daily fantasy sports (DFS) and fantasy sports tournaments, but delays bets based on college sports events until at least May 2020.

In addition, sports betting will also be offered to people over the age of 21 and will tax net receipts 6.75% of the time. Lawmakers believe that taxes and licensing fees could raise between $2.3 million and $4 million annually.

"It takes people out of the shadows and provides a regulated environment," said Senator Roby Smith, R-Davenport. "It gives people the freedom to legally choose to bet on sports." 바카라사이트 추천
