This week, the British Columbia Lottery Company reminded local athletes of several unclaimed winning tickets of the week, which are worth considerable money in cash. That's why the Crown Agency is urging everyone who has played Lotto 6/49 in the past few months to check out their lottery tickets as they could be BC's next lottery millionaire.

Lotto 6/49 is a major Canadian lottery game available in all states and drawn twice a week. After revamping the game in September 2022, its new format comes with two hearty main prizes. The first is a classic jackpot worth 5 million Canadian dollars and a gold ball worth more than 60 million Canadian dollars.

In a press release, BCLC reported that British Colomians have won numerous awards in the game over the past five months. However, some of them have not yet been charged, which means ticket holders may not know the prize money. Each award can be won up to 52 weeks after the draw date and will expire thereafter.

There are currently four tickets in cash worth more than C$500,000, awaiting each owner. The first is Lotto 6/49 from the game draw on September 28, 2022, worth C$1 million. I bought it at Maple Ridge. Tickets valued at C$1 million from January 25, 2023 also belonged to the Abbottford area.

The largest of the four unclaimed tickets is C$5,000,000, and Lotto 6/49 tickets were purchased in Richmond. This prize came from a draw-based game on December 3, 2022. Finally, the BCLC notified the additional Lotto 6/49 winners registered in Surrey on February 8, 2023.

According to reports, all unclaimed winning tickets were purchased in and around the Metro Vancouver area, with the biggest ticket going to Richmond. Winners can contact the agency for up to 52 weeks to book an appointment to claim money. The number for this draw can be found on the official website of Crown Corporation.

In addition to BC, many Canadians have already received amazing prize money from a new and improved version of Lotto 6/49. In Quebec, Jean-Marc Poirier became the first winner to win a gold ball jackpot from that version. He won a total of CA$36 million in his name, and his winning ticket is due on October 29, 2022.

In February 2023, a resident of Sault St. Marie requested a gold ball jackpot worth CA$48 million. The winner's name this time was 18-year-old Juliette Lamour, and this was actually her first lottery purchase. With her win, Lamour became the youngest teenager to win such a big prize over the past year.
