On Thursday, March 23, the developer of South Beach Casino & Resorts will hold a location approval hearing from the Mississippi Game Commission.
In that sense, South Mississippi may have one more contender to officially become the 13th casino on the coast.
However, one more South Beach casino was proposed in 2008. Its planned locations were Ventors Avenue and U.S. 90 in Biloxi, and developers held multiple hearings by the Mississippi Game Board for location approval.
Description of proposed casino location:
The casino location at 6081 South Beach Blvd, in Clemont Harbor and Lake Shore Development in Hancock County, is only four acres.
However, with the support of the committee, it will be the third location of the casino, about two miles from the beach.
The 3,93 acre site is located east of the Silver Slipper Casino, next to the 98.5 acre site owned by Cureland, which has been approved for location but has not yet been developed.
Its location is west of buccaneer state park, Kirk Radner in Diamondhead and Russell Elliott in st. Mr. Lewis is seeking approval for the location of the aforementioned Hancock County Casino Resort.
In a related development, Jay McDaniel, executive director of the Mississippi Game Commission, said, "They met all the regulations to get on the agenda."
The layout of the proposed casino resort:
The proposed casino resort will have 40,000 square meters of casino space, 25 table games, 1,100 slot machines and six poker tables, according to a mandatory legal ad from Sea Coast Echo.
In that regard, the Mississippi Game Commission believes all the newest casinos on the coast should have 300 hotel rooms, at least 40,000 square feet of casino space, luxury restaurants and amenities, and everything to boost the local casino market.
The first step in building a casino:
According to McDaniel, this location approval hearing is just the first step toward building a casino on the site.
There is still a stage left before casino construction begins. One of these steps is to continue to apply for permission, which in itself is a very strict procedure that requires developers to prove that they have the funds to complete casinos and provide all the amenities they need in compact locations.
South Mississippi includes 12 casinos in Harrison County and Hancock County, with a few more not offered in Biloxi, Deburville and long beach.
However, more than 20 casino developers who received location approval after Hurricane Katrina in 2005 were unable to finance the construction of casino resorts.
