New York Senator Joe Adabo (D-Queens) organizes an online seminar on problem gambling education. A major proponent of legalizing online gaming in the state wants to help people vulnerable to gambling-related addiction. The virtual seminar will be held on September 13, 2023, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Zoom.

Mr. Adabo is one of the politicians looking to expand gambling in Empire State, as he has also been a major proponent of the mobile sports betting market. Previously, the senator from Queens proposed legislation to legalize online casinos in the state twice in a row, but both times gained no traction in the committee.

The senator's one-hour seminar will take place on September 13, 2023, arriving in Responsible Gambling Education Month and Recovery Month. Mr. Adabo, who is also chairman of the State Senate Racing, Games and Betting Committee, believes he has a responsibility to bring the event to the community for the public good.

He also noted that gambling can be a routine activity for some people, but for others, everything can be expendable and those people need help. He explained that if the seminar helped at least one person go down the path of self-destruction, they did an important job. The ID of the zoom meeting is 840 5365 7492, the password is 767130, and the meeting is anonymous.

In addition to legalizing Empire State's online casinos, Mr. Adabo also aims to legalize Iroto. He noted that if not, the state would start offering digital casinos and lottery products to residents. In addition, he said that if the two options were legalized, the state would be placed on top of $1 billion in revenue.

According to a report by the National Gambling Council, about 2 million adults in the U.S. meet serious gambling conditions in a particular year, while another 4 to 6 million experience minor or moderate disabilities, while more than 4 percent of New Yorkers suffer from gambling-related problems.

The American Psychiatric Association judges gambling addiction as a mental illness. Health officials are reminded that such addiction can lead to more complications, such as financial losses and accumulated debt. These conditions can also affect personal relationships and work. In addition, compulsive gamblers may resort to substance abuse.

The New York State Game Commission and the Addiction Support Agency are also working to combat gambling-related addiction by introducing a voluntary self-exclusion support program in June this year to allow gamblers to voluntarily sign up and take a break from games for a certain period of time.
