British media outlet The Sun reported on the 14th (Korean time), ‘Manchester United made a huge contract mistake. Varane can negotiate with other teams starting next month. He reportedly said he could leave Manchester United at the end of this season.

Varane left Real Madrid  in the summer of 2021 and joined Manchester United. He played 22 English Premier League games in the 2021-2022 season and 24 league games in the 2022-2023 season. He displayed world-class performance. However, he was hampered by injury. He has only appeared in 5 league games this season.

The Sun said, ‘Vararan joined Manchester United from Real Madrid for a transfer fee of 42 million pounds. Manchester United initially announced a four-year contract. He said, 'The current contract actually expires in June next year.'

Citing a report from another media outlet, The Athletic, this media said, 'After arriving at Manchester United, Varane signed a three-year contract with an option for a one-year extension. This means that he can become a free agent after the 2023-2024 season. With Varane's contract expected to expire, he could begin negotiations with foreign teams in January next year ahead of a transfer,' he added.

The Sun said, ‘Varane has been pushed down the Manchester United hierarchy in recent months. Manchester United manager Eric ten Haag is said to be willing to let him go.

Meanwhile, Manchester United is also planning to let Anthony Marshall go as a free agent. The Sun said, ‘Manchester United has an option to extend Marshall’s contract until 2025. But I have no intention of using it. Casemiro, Jadon Sancho, etc. are also expected to be put up for sale.' Reporter Kim Ga-eul.
