multi-goal'!a fierce chase after Ulsan, the leader

'K League 1 runner-up' Pohang Steelers defeat Suwon FC to extend their unbeaten streak to nine games.

Pohang won 2-0 at home against Suwon FC 스포츠토토 in the 30th round of the Hana OneQ K League 1 at the Pohang Steel Yard at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, thanks to a multi-goal performance from Zeta.

The tension was broken in the 28th minute of the first half. Pohang took the lead. Wandelsson's cross from the left side of the box rattled the net as Zeca slid in with his left foot. With momentum on their side, Zeca was not satisfied with one goal. In the 44th minute, after a pass from Kim Jin-ho broke down the Suwon FC flank, Zeca completed his multi-goal and 10th goal of the season with a low, quick, sensational shot. Pohang went into halftime with a 2-0 lead thanks to Zeca's sensational performance.

Despite the lead, Pohang head coach Kim Ki-dong actively made substitutions. At the start of the second half, he introduced Kim Jong-woo and Kim In-sung in place of Yoon Min-ho and Hong Yun-sang. In the 10th minute of the second half, he substituted Han Chan-hee and Park Seung-wook for Kim Jun-ho and Shin Kwang-hoon.

Suwon head coach Kim Do-gyun also made a substitution in search of a late goal. He substituted Park Chul-woo for Lee Kwang-hyuk in the 11th minute and Choi Bo-kyung, Jang Jae-woong, and Kim Joo-yeop for Shin Shin-hyun, Kim Hyun, and Oh In-pyo in the 28th minute. However, neither team was able to score any more goals. In the 38th minute of the second half, Lee Ho-jae had a one-on-one chance after a pass from Pohang's Kim Jong-woo, but he was stopped by goalkeeper Labor Gun. The game ended with a 2-0 victory for Pohang.

Pohang forgot about the defeat. Since the 1-1 draw against Suwon Samsung on July 12, they have won five, drawn four and gone unbeaten in nine matches. Following a 2-0 win over Incheon on the eve of the A-Match, Pohang proved their unstoppable rise at home with two consecutive multi-goal, clean sheet victories. With 56 points on the board, they are now five points clear of first-place Ulsan (61 points), who host Daejeon Hana Citizen at 7 p.m. today. Pohang has three games left before the split round, including a trip to Daegu on the 24th, a home game against Ulsan on the 30th, and a trip to Suwon Samsung on the 8th of next month.

Suwon, meanwhile, failed to pick up a point away from home, dropping to 10th place with eight wins, five draws and 17 losses and 29 points, five points behind 11th-placed Gangwon (24), who won 3-1 at Jeonbuk earlier in the day.
