Chelsea has kept Conor Gallagher, who was receiving interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

Gallagher is a midfielder from Chelsea Youth. Gallagher, who has gained experience through loans since his childhood, exploded with his talent while on loan at Crystal Palace in the 2021-22 season. He showed off his steel stamina by appearing as a starter in 33 of the 34 games he played in the league, moving actively and leading the team's attack. Gallagher's league record for the 2021-22 season is 8 goals and 3 assists. This was the season in which Gallagher made a name for himself as an attacking midfielder.

Last season's performance was disappointing compared to the previous season. Chelsea hoped that Gallagher, who returned from his loan, would maintain his performance during his time at Palace and contribute to the team, but because the team was in a bad overall situation, it was not an environment in which Gallagher could do anything. Nevertheless, Gallagher has become the subject of interest from many teams.

Tottenham also made Gallagher a target in the summer transfer market. Gallagher's active participation in attack and defense based on his high activity level attracted the attention of coach Anger Fo Steko Glu, and there were transfer rumors that Tottenham was targeting Gallagher.

However, Chelsea had no intention of selling Gallagher. Gallagher is likely to remain at Chelsea. David Ornstein of Britain's 'The Athletic' said, "Gallagher will not join Tottenham."

This was because Chelsea demanded a high transfer fee. Simon Jones of the British Daily Mail said, "Tottenham offered 40 million pounds (about 66.5 billion won) for Gallagher's transfer fee, but Chelsea demanded 48 million pounds (about 79.8 billion won) for Gallagher." He explained that he demanded more money as a transfer fee.

Gallagher's mind was also inclined to remain. “Gallagher is happy to remain at Chelsea,” Jones said. “Gallagher has weighed up his future after seeing the signings of Cole Palmer, Moises Caicedo and Romeo Rabia. “He is happy to stay at Chelsea, but he acknowledges that he needs to compete for a starting spot at Chelsea,” he said.

Tottenham plans to minimize the gap in midfield by leaving Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the team. Hojbjerg was a target for Atletico Madrid and Fulham, but the expected chain transfer did not materialize, raising the possibility that he would remain at Tottenham.
