An earthquake occurred in the north-west of Afghanistan: aftershocks were heard in Kyrgyzstan

An earthquake hit the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan on the night of 22 March.According to the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the earthquake had a magnitude of 6.5.The epicenter of the earthquake was located in the Hindu Kush mountains, mostly on the territory of Afghanistan, 38 km to the South-East from the locality Jirm in Badakhshan province.Its origin lay at a depth of 191km.The earthquake was felt in India, including in the capital New Delhi.Shocks were also heard in Kyrgyzstan, particularly in the south of the country. There is no information about possible casualties or damage at this time.
It is known that tremors were felt in several other countries in Pakistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
Earthquake-induced landslides blocked roads in the northern Pakistani city of Abbotabad.
Earlier on Sunday, a magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck the state of Alaska, near the Kenai Peninsula.
