A recent beta test of Season of Mastery let players WOTLK Gold compete with improved versions of bosses from the game's initial two raids, Molten Core As well as the Lair of Onyxia. Despite all the bosses receiving all-inclusive 100% health boost and numerous bosses being given additional mechanics that had been removed from the game's initial version the players were still able to make short progress against their opponents. This wasn't entirely unexpected since Blizzard posting in an official forum post that they was concerned that the impact of the changes would "likely not be felt" by players who have been playing for a long time the game.

"As we watched Beta testers in game and observed their reactions to our fixes and modifications the results confirmed what we had already believed prior to this test. Simply increasing the health of mobs and rebuilding a few of the mechanics we had removed was not hitting the mark we wanted to see for a season focused on speedier progress and "more challenging" game content." Blizzard writes.

For the next test, Blizzard promises to be making "significant adjustments" regarding Molten Core and Onyxia's Lair The goal was not making fights so challenging that experienced and well-prepared raid teams will struggle to make progress.

"We also do not plan to alter the fighting so in a way that they're and completely unrecognizable, or even fundamentally different from their Classic counterparts," Blizzard writes. "Our aim is to present something unique and exciting to go along with Season of cheap WOW WOTLK Classic Gold Mastery. Season of Mastery that feels exactly in the spirit of the first fights."
