Launch of the Web3 Smartphone by Solana

In front of crowds in New York City, Solana co-founder and CEO Anatoly Yakovenko had a Steve Jobs-like moment when he announced the debut of Saga, an Android web3 smartphone.

One of the first initiatives on the market to use Web3 technology outside of the desktop is this. The Solana web3 smartphone will have a dApp store, the Solana SDK, and hardware private key security features.

"The globe is getting more mobile, and in most countries, mobile phones are the main form of access." CEO of the bitcoin exchange FTX and a prominent individual, Sam Bankman-Fried

Solana supporter, remarked at the event. "But crypto mobile is behind", he added, pointing out how difficult it is currently to access dApp on a mobile device. As a result of these technological advancements, particularly the centralized development of smartphones, Solana Lab has taken steps to introduce its first web3 smartphone in New York.

Given that Android is now present on more than 3 billion devices globally, why not develop an Android Solana web3 smartphone? According to Yakovenko, Saga will serve as the standard for a Web3-focused smartphone and showcase all of the characteristics of the Solana Mobile Stack.

Features of the Solana web3 smartphone

The SMS software from the Solana Mobile Stack, which powers the web3 smartphone Saga, is responsible for many of its features.

Many of the Solana Saga's capabilities are derived from the SMS component of the Solana Mobile Stack software.

This SDK comes with the Solana dApp Store, Solana Pay for Android, and a Seed Vault for private keys.

According to Solana, the SMS and Solana dApp Store will allow developers to create entirely unique Saga experiences. These include more advanced trading, the mobility to mint NFTs anywhere, and other features. The developers has indicated their desire to eventually provide dApp store free of charge, allowing the Solana community to participate in the administration of its catalog.

Along with commonplace technology and further Web3 features, the phone will sport a stainless steel body. The Saga phone will have a 6.6-inch display, 512 GB of storage, and 12 GB of RAM. Even though Solana Labs doesn't expect it to arrive till the first fiscal quarter of 2023, users may already pre-order it on the website for $100 USDC.
