Data cables may look as sturdy as power cords, but damage you can't see can prevent them from functioning properly. Without the integrity of a viable data connection, you can fill up your print queue with documents, all to no avail. To rule out a bad cable as the source of your communication problems, power down your printer and computer, and replace the cable with a new one. When you start up your system again, you should regain the ability to print.
