Orange County Schools have taken an active role in the developing quality programs for all their members of the diverse student population. One pro-gram that"s been developed is aimed at supporting student performance and improving educational opportunities for students of Native American heritage. In order to better achieve these goals the Orange County Schools Native American Parent Advisory Committee was created. The Indigenous American Parent Advisory Board functions under Title VII federal recommendations. It is composed of seven members; six elected members and two non-elected positions. Annually the Native American Parent Advisory Board acknowledges graduating seniors from Orange County Schools. The event contains speakers, refreshments, contributions, community sponsorship and an Indigenous American dance demonstration. A new sponsor with this years system is the L.A. Dodgers baseball team. Senior Recognition Night honors these students of Native American heritage who"ve worked to excel in academic achievement with-in Orange County Schools.
