What are the worst advertisements ever?

Most of the time ads going wrong have been a result of uninformed ad creators or limited perspective on the brand’s part. Very rarely is it a deliberate attempt by an agency or business hurt public sentiment at large. One of the worst ads though, in my opinion, has to be the Pepsi ad done by Kendall Jenner.

Why I believe what I believe is due to the following reasons,

  1. The ad timing was especially bad owing to large scale protests around the world for equal rights

  2. Choosing such a sensitive topic and adding quirky dance routines and rom-poms visually seemed very insensitive and disconnected.

  3. The logic that a model drinking a cold drink could stop the protests which arose as a result of discriminated behavior towards a section of people was anything but logic.

  4. Even in terms of marketing, how did the ad even attempt to sell the drink at all? It was baseless, illogical and nothing but a massive error, scarring Pepsi’s reputation for a long time.

Advertising ads and campaigns need to be led by automation support to avoid such errors.
