I've invested hundreds of hours in Fallout 4, and I probably played through about five hours. The rest was just the promise of fun, and that bloody 'kill Buy RuneScape Gold, loot and return' loop that tricked my brain into thinking it was having fun. Then I've heard your comments about Skyrim - and how you've been re-visiting it over and over. Pathetic, the lot of us.
And Old School RuneScape? I don't know. It's easy to spot one of these games as they take over your life and then you complain about it on the internet. But RuneScape is something completely different.
When I'm not gaming, I'm still unable to form an opinion about it. I hear the music in my head and feel a gravitational attraction to the music. Finding out it was not on my mobile was a mistake. My family hasn't spoken to me in the past few days.
RuneScape was one of the pioneers of games that were purely focussed on engagement, that doesn't have to be paired with fun. But that's not to suggest that the two are mutually exclusive the fact is that there are strategies to keep you playing in the absence of having fun.
RuneScape is also one of the best in its field. I've been enjoying the fan documentary, RuneScape Historical Timeline 1998 - 2020, about the growth of the game (it truly has impacted all areas to my personal life) and the game's developers were stunned to see players achieving their stats in months rs 07 gold, instead of years.
