Having celebrated its 50th anniversary throughout 2020, the Adidas Superstar Women has allowed some of its counterparts to revel in the spotlight within the first four months of the new year. Recently, however, the shell-toe proposition has emerged in a different variant, the Workshop 1 (WS1), suggesting it’s ready to command more attention throughout the second half of 2021.
Although the Adidas Superstar Men has become one of the brand’s most popular lifestyle sneakers, its roots trace back to the basketball scene over fifty years ago. Its legacy on the hardwood is echoed in two new, spring-ready offerings that opt for Lakers-friendly colors.
Both shell toe styles indulge in suede bases, which have been tinted in pastel yellow and purple thus channeling the Los Angeles basketball team. Hints of black leather are applied to the signature side stripes and the adidas-branded heel tab. For additional branding details, the two pairs see Adidas Superstar Sale stamped at the forefoot of their lateral sides in gold foil, as well as the classic, gold-on-black trefoil logo on the tongues. Adidas Superstar Cheap laces add a vintage feel to the design, while contrasting the bright white rubber toes and midsoles to complete the look.
