The minimum acceptable room temperature varies between countries, cultures and seasons. Generally, the recommended minimum temperature for a healthy person is 18oC, but some countries have different guidelines. For example, in winter, the WHO recommends wearing a sweater and not a vest top. The recommended maximum temperature is 28degC, which is considered the ideal level of indoor climate. However, many people are not able to maintain the ideal temperature due to income constraints.

The average room temperature is 21 degrees Celsius, which is considered the normal room temperature for adults. But the ideal room temperature for babies is different than for older children. Whether a baby is a baby or a toddler is irrelevant, as the optimal room temperature for them is between 68-72 degrees Fahrenheit. Keeping a baby in an unheated room at this temperature is not advisable, and it increases the risk of SIDS

Another study shows that keeping a baby's room at a low temperature will lead to reduced strength and independence. The minimum room temperature for babies is around 20 degrees. This is the best range for both the newborn's cot and the baby's room. Furthermore, it reduces the risk of overheating. Overheating is associated with dangerous sleep accidents and sudden infant death syndrome. For these reasons, the ideal room temperature for a baby is between 20 and 22 degrees.
