Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), often simply referred to as FTIRs, is used to gain an infrared spectrum of absorption or emission of a solid, liquid or gas. An FTIR spectrometer can gathers high-spectral-resolution data over a wide spectral range at the same time, unlike a diffusive instrument.
