Model Railways
Industrial production of railway models.
The small craft enterprises that appeared on the threshold of the XX century in a number of countries, producing primitive railway toys, soon grow into large companies producing models of railways, as the demand for their products immediately turned out to be large.

Initially, spring drives were used as engines of railway toy models, as well as originally simplified steam engines. With the development of electrical engineering, these drives were replaced by microelectromotors, which made it possible to control the locomotive model at a distance. Gradually, the attention of manufacturers focused on the mechanical reliability of toy railways is spreading further, as the buyer is increasingly interested in the similarity of toy models with certain locomotives, wagons, etc. Thus, a replica toy appears, which becomes not so much a toy as a miniature model with a precession mechanical-electrical device, repeating in its image and likeness a real concrete type of locomotive or wagon.
In Europe, the most famous firms in the first half of the XX century were acquired by "Marklin", "Fleischmann", "Rivarossi", etc. Their products were in demand, helped model lovers to better understand technology, and contributed to the development of industrial production of miniature railways. Enterprises that create railway models are constantly improving technology, using the latest special equipment, new artificial materials, thin injection molding, etc., which affects the trends in the development of amateur modeling. So, for example, if in the 20s and 30s the scales of the 1:32 and 1:45 models were common, then by the end of the 40s they were almost completely replaced by the 1:87 scale. By the beginning of the 60s, the 1:120 scale became popular, and in recent years well-executed models appeared on the scale of 1:160 and 1:220.
