Resolution
Note: Windows Reboot/Restart
Reboot the computer experiencing the issue
If this is a network environment. Have all users close out of Sage 50, and reboot the server first and then all the workstations
If the issue is still present, follow the steps below
Section I: Actian is stopped or needs to be restarted
Click Start, Run, enter services.msc, and then click OK.
Select Actian PSQL Workgroup Engine.
If the status column reads Started, right-click Actian PSQL Workgroup Engine, and then click Restart. If the the status column is blank, right click Actian PSQL Workgroup, and then click Start.
Verify Sage 50 now opens.
Section II: Program running in compatibility mode for another Operating System
Close Sage 50
Right-click on the Sage 50 icon, and click on Properties
Click on the Compatibility tab, and remove the check to the left of Run this program in compatibility mode for
Verify the program and company is responsive
Section III: Anti-virus is performing a scan
Wait for the scan to finish or stop the scan and then see if the program functions normally.
If it does function normally exceptions need to be made to your anti-virus, refer to Article ID 10089: How do I modify my firewall or Internet Security?
Section IV: Program needs to be run in an elevated status
Set the Sage 50 icon to run as administrator. See Article ID 15177: How can I make the program run as administrator by default?
Section V: Damaged registry key
Remove the Last Open Company history using the Windows registry. See Article ID 12006: How can I remove unwanted companies from my Open Previous Company or Open an existing company lists?
Section VI: Run Repair
Run Repair on Sage 50, refer to Article ID 10602: How to run Repair
Install any service release updates
Verify Sage 50 opens without issue.
Section VII: Uninstall/reinstall program
Click the Windows Start button. In the Search type APPWIZ.CPL and press Enter.
Right-click Sage 50 Accounting 20xx and select Uninstall. Proceed through the uninstallation.
Reinstall the program, referring to Article ID 10262: Installation Instructions - Sage 50—U.S. Edition.
