NBA Playgrounds received a follow-up after gradually gaining enough sales. Released back in 2018 following a rather lengthy delay it was very similar as the first game, however, it also included a number of changes and Nba 2k22 Mt enhancements. There were numerous enhancements such as improved online matchmaking and new options for playgrounds. Despite the numerous upgrades and improvements however, the game was widely condemned for its abrasive microtransactions that are quickly becoming a hallmark of contemporary sports games.

NBA 2K20 is a new game in the NBA 2K series. It provides a wide range of customizable settings that can be customized to different game modes. For instance the game provides players the possibility of creating six expansion teams in the game modes of MyLeague and MyGM. The teams can be relocated whenever the player wishes. This is the first time the games include WNBA teams appearing in the game. NBA 2K20 was heavily criticised for having too many microtransactions on the MyTeam game mode.

NBA 2K19 was the first title in the series to not be released on the Playstation 3 or Xbox 360. NBA 2K19 also marks the introduction of the CBA Mandarin Chinese mode for career commentary.

The game received much criticism, despite the fact that it offered many gameplay improvements over its predecessor. Like its predecessor microtransactions left a negative flavor in players' mouths and triggered widespread criticism. Kobe Bryant was the cover of the series' eleventh installment, which was the first game of its kind to launch on the PSP.
