Cannibal Corpse frontman George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher has recently come under fire for comments he made in 2007 regarding players and characters in the ‘World Of Warcraft‘ video game. Those comments were originally aired at a ‘BlizzCon‘ event put on by the game’s developer Blizzard Entertainment back in 2011 and elicited an apology from the studio’s co-founder and President at the time, Michael Morhaime.
With Blizzard Entertainment and its publisher Activision currently caught up in a wave of harassment and discrimination-related legal trouble, including a lawsuit filed by the California Department Of Fair Employment And Housing, both the staff and games made by the company have been put under increased scrutiny. Fisher himself was immortalized in the game back in 2008, having been honored with an NPC orc character named ‘Gorge The Corpsegrinder‘ who gives players quests.
However, with all eyes on the company’s past conduct, at least some players have recently been advocating for the removal of Fisher‘s in-game tribute character in light of the comments he made back in 2007.
An edited version of the interview itself that originally aired at ‘BlizzCon‘ can be found below and finds Fisher using words like “h*mo”, “f*ggot” and “c*cksucker* when describing the various factions of fictional races featured within the game. It as yet unclear if Fisher‘s character will remain in the game or not or is even under consideration for removal from the game.
