This isn't only from the trailer, but it ought to be  MLB 18 stubs addressed nevertheless: MLB The Show 18's servers are going to be a key component to watch.

Online has ever been touch and go with MLB The Show. Every entrance going back to the PS3 was plagued by some sort of difficulty with lag or server connectivity, but this past year was particularly bad. Game effects took forever to sync, disconnects were uncontrolled, and it was often impossible to even login. In a game becoming heavily than ever on online components, it was completely unacceptable.

Senior producer Jason Villa told Game Informer,"We are taking advantage from what we saw from the alpha in terms of user's behaviours once they got online to The show 18 stubs write smart and logical load evaluations to replay that user experience."

Every year Sony San Diego says it is going to improve the online play, but last year actually seemed to be the breaking point. Let us hope so.

On the outside, MLB The Show is a fun, balanced baseball sim. But, of course, if you play a game long enough, the cracks will inevitably begin to show. MLB The Show 18 will want to deal with a few of those cracks while still doing its best to refrain from opening new ones.
