Before setting up the Netgear Router, you should physically connect the router. Disconnect any cables connected to the computer and switch on the modem. For Netgear wnr2500 setup, connect the Netgear Router by plugging one end of an Ethernet cable into the modem and another to the internet port of the router. Connect your wireless router to the computer by plugging one end of an Ethernet cable to the LAN port of the computer and another end to any one of the LAN ports of the router. Turn on the router by plugging the router power adapter into an electrical power outlet to continue with the Netgear router setup. The steps are the same for the Netgear wndr3400 setup.
