The paddy rice is parboiled before the milling process. When the paddy is fed into the hopper of the paddy cleaner, the blade is adjusted to the diameter of the paddy. The impaction led to the removal of husks and the blower separates the shaft from the rice. The rice and other impurities enter into the sieving bed of the vibrating sieve where the pebbles are separated from the rice.
Cleaning of paddy is required. Additionally, non-availability of appropriate paddy cleaning machine at reasonable price is one of the major constraints for initiating small/medium scale manufacture of paddy cleaning machine. Therefore, this working is undertaken to develop an efficient low cost paddy cleaner in view of improving the quality paddy cleaning using conventional methods. To check the performance of the paddy cleaner, a total volume of 1.15kg of uncleaned paddy consisting of 1kg of paddy, 0.05kg of dust and 0.1kg of sand was fed into the hopper.
The conveyor system of paddy separator consists of a 270-tph Hutchinson commercial double chain 12-inch grain pump system around the four silos. The grain pump is fed via a Hutchinson chain and paddle drive-over hopper with remote operated lids. The silos also have internal silo sweep independent push tractors. The Hutchinson grain pump system has a number of advantages for this application, including: less electrical motors and drives; no expensive over-silo structural walkways; the ability to load and unload with the same system; the ability to blend gain from all silos together; and the ability to turn grain from partially empty silos into other silos.
