Methyl-beta-cyclodextrin 128446-36-6 (MβCD) is a heptasaccharide cyclodextrin derivative. It's soluble in water, and has more affinity to cholesterol due to the presence of hydrophobic core.

Applications:
It's is normally used as an inhibitor to modify cholesterol domains on the cellular surface. It is also known to prevent theaction of nitric oxide synthase, cholera toxin and glucose transporter through internalization. Because it can decrease cholesteral level, the cell viability be affected as the genes regulating cholesterol levels are upregulated.
In commodity chemicals and cosmetics,  can reduce microbial contamination and skin irritations, keep skin moist, mask bad odors, promote transdermal absorption of activeingredients. http://www.cydextrins.com
