Everyone put in 20k hours into the WOW TBC Classic Gold game feels connected to it and it has to get better. . Right? Those 20k hours were not for nothing. . Right?
I feel as the cost of building the mmo genre is going to be almost impossible to enter without prior base.
There is a couple of ones on the horizon with a theoretical unlimited budget like fresh universe and ashes of invention but those mmos would need to be polished to perfection and radical to get people to remain on them along with my hopes for them are not quite high.
I used to chat with Hazzikostas regularly in Vanilla. We played on exactly the exact same server. He was one of the most intelligent and friendly gamers I have ever met. Even back then he and his guild were famous for the theorycraft they brought to the match. I can't fathom he is genuinely incompetent. There is just no solution. He came into the gambling sector via guild management just like Pardo and Kaplan.
This is what I remember . He had been one of those posters who persuaded me to not get involved and donate something to EJ - just be a lurker and utilize other people's math to my benefit. He had been a prick and he is a prick now.
Pardo and Kaplan came from EverQuest. WoW's current state could be his attempt to fix all of the problems he had with early WoW for a raider, which caters to his specific experience and preferences, which could simply flat out not function in an existing game. It means he's molded it to what he needs, which entailed cutting off balls and sewing on brand new ones to try and get it to fit.
However, in the instance of Pardo and Kaplan, they were designing a fresh new game. They were able to take all their experiences out of EQ ahead and apply thembut they weren't hacking apart an present game. Perhaps if they had been hired to work on EverQuest, it might have had similarly disastrous results.
He could be the most intelligent participant but the most incompetent game manager. They are not mutually exclusive. I am not saying he certainly is incompetent, but my impression from the interviews he did is that he don't know what the players want or he is in a position where he's at the stage of no return and wind up doubling down and defending the game designs.
He grey parses in raid, and maybe runs 1-3 mythic plus cheap WOW Burning Crusade Classic Gold dungeons a week even early in spots while his guild funnels him gear likely.
