2K21 released a'Legends Edition' to 2K21 MT honor the late Kobe Bryant. They have given him multiple tributes in the game, including a Damian Lillard song about him. However, the ultimate tribute has to become 2K designing a court in honor of the Mamba. Screenshots such as this have been accessible only after 2K allowed select streamers to play the game prior to the initiation of the new consoles. Channels from the 2K community such as Agent 00 have experienced long streams just showing the game on the newest consoles, and this has generated considerable hype.
NBA 2K21 on next-gen is currently a candidate for Game of the Year in my book, but it appears a significant update is about the way that is intended to boost the already stellar visuals. One of the biggest issues they'd was gaining access to the players since 2K wasn't permitted inside the Bubble performing the NBA restart. That said, Boenisch states in the video below, the 2K team has already scanned over 40 players that should be added into the match in an update scheduled to arrive shortly. I tried to get a listing of the players, but that was not available at this time. However, I had been advised that 2K is having to be exceptionally creative in efforts to add as many scans as possible--even traveling using their camera rig to participant's cities and houses to finish the process.
In prior decades, we would not have seen this much transparency in communicating from the developers and executive producer. This is a refreshing change and very frankly, this willingness with the community might have something to do with the overall quality of this next-gen product which is a masterclass introduction into the consoles. Just two weeks after the 2020 NBA Draft, 2K Sports released the comprehensive rookie ratings for every prospect in NBA 2K21 before this 2020-21 season. On the initial release, LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo each rated as the top notch players at 97, respectively.
