Because of the incentives (or lack thereof) that Wisp gets, he is possibly one of the most irritating unique characters in New Horizons. Wisp launched in Japan as a new update to Animal Forest plus, and was subsequently added when the game was called Animal Crossing outside of Japan.
The player in the first Animal Crossing had to catch five ACNH Items and send them to Wisp, but he's been grappling with these concerns for around 20 years. Removing all the weeds in town, gifting a random object not yet in the player's catalog, or recoloring the player's roof were prizes for completing his tasks. Although Wisp was missing from Wild World, he was tossed into City Folk by the creators, which is Wild World 2.0 anyway. Instead of ghosts, the player will encounter an empty genie lamp this time. Rewards were equivalent until the choice of roof color was substituted by getting rid of cockroaches from the house of the player. Again, the things offered were something the player didn't have in their catalog, but typically nothing was uncommon. Wisp was a late addition to the game in New Leaf. With the welcome Amiibo update, he appeared and then needed Amiibo to be operational.
a wisp
In New Horizons, Wisp is going to occur spontaneously around once a week everywhere on your island. According to a few outlets, he will turn up several days per week.
Wisp exists again, varying details on the lovely Internet between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., but it seems reliable so far. If you speak with Wisp, he may become afraid, imagining you to be a demon. He'll be so freaked out that he bursts into a million bits that disperse all over the island. With Wisp, a fun little detail, he doesn't even acknowledge you as you pass by. The bulk of the NPCs will latch on to you for a fleeting moment or two, but Wisp clearly sees straight through you. If you do some sort of response, he won't even behave like the other NPCs. However, once you scare him to death, he acknowledges your existence. You sound like there's a greater sense here, like you're nobody to him unless he's insulted. His spirit would disperse into five separate parts after scaring the living daylights out of him, it's your duty to race across the island to locate all five before 5 a.m. arrives. Finding them doesn't take very long, but these little spirits are going. So, if you're having difficulty spotting one, retracing your steps, he's possibly dropping behind you at random, hidden behind trees.
After speaking with Wisp to begin the search, you must complete the task before saving and leaving. If you leave in the middle of the session, you'll have to locate Wisp again and start over. And if you've gathered all the spirits, they'll be gone before you load back up, so don't do it. Once you've expended the time to locate his souls, he'll take them from you and reward you with this cool shiny animation.
Your incentive will be clothes or furniture, and when he asks whether you choose anything fresh or expensive, he'll inform you which type of item he'll offer you before encouraging you to select from the newer, more expensive choices. If you want something different, they'll send you something in your collection that you don't have. On the other side, the pricey one, you called for something costly, there is a small possibility that you're going to get something expensive.
