Methyl-beta-cyclodextrin (MβCD) is a heptasaccharide cyclodextrin derivative,.It's soluble in water, and has more affinity to cholesterol due to the presence of hydrophobic core.
〡Applications: It's is normally used as an inhibitor to modify cholesterol domains on the cellular surface. It is also known to prevent the action of nitric oxide synthase, cholera toxin and glucose transporter through internalization. Because MβCD can decrease  cholesteral level, the cell viability be affected as the genes regulating cholesterol levels are upregulated. http://www.zhiyuan-cydextrin.com
