Unlike dry skin, the opposite is true for oily skin.  In oily skin, the sebaceous glands, located deep within the second layer or dermis of the skin, are working overtime to try to make your skin a living nightmare.  The face, neck, chest, head, and back consist of the most sebaceous glands and are where the highest amount of oil is produced in oily skin types.  You may wonder why you were given the curse of oily skin, well, in most cases oily skin is a heredity thing so you can thank your parents.  Other things can bring on oily conditions in skin however such as your diet, hormone levels, pregnancy, birth control pills, cosmetics you use and environmental factors such as humidity and hot weather.

As a teenager you may recall the oily skin phase and outgrew it, however, not everyone does unfortunately and if your are not in the know of the proper skin care for oily skin you more then likely are in a constant battle with adult acne.  However, when you reach the aged mark, you know, the one where the fine lines and wrinkles begin to appear, the production of oil slows down and your previous battle with oily skin becomes a battle of wits with dry skin.  Anytime there is a hormonal change in your body, your skin will reflect it.
