Break time became a time we got out Sugar Balance Review and walked around the parking lot. Some of us went to the gym to start working out after work. Actually, the money I had spent on lunch every day turned into the money I paid to the gym every month! My priorities began to change. Do you see the transformation? I no longer "socialized" over fast-food. My friends and I talked in the lunch room with our brown bags and at Curves. As I got healthier, I got happier and my hemoglobin A1C began to lower.
When I first began my journey with diabetes my hemoglobin A1C was 9.0. By the time I left my place of employment about five years later, it was 6.6. I had traded in my diet Dr. Pepper for lemon water and began to eat more lean protein and complex carbohydrates and low-sugar fruits and veggies galore! I only worked out 3 days a week for thirty minutes at Curves.
Small changes make a big difference! They don't all have to be made at once. Do one healthy thing and see how much better you feel. You may begin to feel a bit isolated and lonely like I did at first. But I implore you, give it time. Sometimes the people around you can see that you're doing something healthy, and they want to join in, but it takes a little while for them to resign themselves to change. Real friends will come around and show their support. It might just take a little while.
